Storms of Life

STORMS OF LIFE

Sovereign God, I have no idea what this day may bring, so I cling to Your ever-sure hand. I am grateful You have promised to never leave me nor forsake me. I know You will see me through any storm that may rage against me. May I look unto You, the author and finisher of my faith. Amen.

“Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, ‘Truly You are the Son of God.” MATTHEW 14:33

Here in Matthew 8:23—27 Jesus was asleep in the boat when His disciples awoke Him in the midst of a storm saying, “Lord, save us!” After He calmed the wind and waves, the disciples asked, “What manner of man is this?” Later, in our text, Jesus came walking to His disciples on the water in the middle of a storm and in the middle of the night.

Jesus grants Peter permission to come to Him on the water, but Peter begins to sink when he takes his eyes off Jesus. He cries, “Lord, save me!” After Jesus enters the boat with Peter and calms the tempest, the disciples answer their question from the first storm with these words: “Truly You are the Son of God.”

You are either in a storm, coming out of a storm, or headed for a storm—life is stormy. In the midst of our personal storm we, too, need the One who used the sea as a sidewalk to save us; we too, need to proclaim, “Truly You are the Son of God.” Only Christ can bring calm in the midst of calamity.

It is not natural to have peace in the midst of a storm—it is supernatural! Human nature shuns storms; divine nature stills storms. When faith cries out, “Lord, save me!” the hand of God reaches down and picks us up. Let Jesus bring you victory in the midst of your storm today!

So it does not matter if things are coming at you like a storm, if some you may know as friends, or church members or even family members gets upset with you because they lashed out in anger verse speaking to you first or better yet if a trail comes at you in life which seams hard and unfair you wonder why. Better yet if the storm your in that’s causing you problems and hurts we all can know one thing and this is a fact Jesus can and will clam it.

The fact is this the evidence is in—Jesus, he will see you through! Like the disciples, the more we truly know the Son of God, turst in Jesus and walk in the spirit the more we will want to worship Him and bow our knee to Him, just as the wind and waves did!

Remember, keep your focus on Jesus Christ and not the storms that’s all around you, if you look at the storm you surly will sink just as Peter did, but if you keep your eyes on Jesus and his power nothing can stop you from sinking.

Amen
